Comments: KAWHIA is the place I will always love. My father Timi Heu would take us to visit his grandmother Nohinohi and uncle Maui at Aotea. My mothers whanau was also from here, the Porimas. Comments: My Grandmother Ngarihia aka Mimiha Warana and Mac Ripia lived in Aotea(Kawhia)...I was raised by my nanny and ma uncle...although my nanny had not been to school and could not speak english she was hard as nails "oh boy" The family homestead remains standing in Aotea...so old...the whare need to pulled down and rebuilt...The whanau and I visited the homestead in Jan 2011...only to be told by farmers who occupy the top whare and given instructions by Thomas Herbert...noone was allowed to go down to the whare...furious of the outcome...we left peacefully...filed an application to succeed to the land a special sitting will be heard legally through the court this month...will be very interesting

Comments: Hi, I'm looking for family of Robert Moki who died in an accident in Mataura in the early 1960s. He was interred back to Kawhia and i believe he had a wife and 4 children. If anyone can help it would be very much apprieciated.
